Program Description: A residence permit can be granted to non-EU/EEA nationals who want to run their own business in Sweden. Applicants must show experience in the industry and previous experience of running a business, as well as a credible business plan and sufficient funds to operate the business and support themselves.
Visa Duration: Residence permits for self-employed persons are normally granted for up to two years.
Financial Requirement: Applicants must have at least SEK 200000 available in their own bank account to support themselves. Additional funds of SEK 100000 are required for a spouse and SEK 50000 for each accompanying child.
Dependents: Family members such as spouse or cohabiting partner and children may apply for residence permits at the same time as the main applicant. Adult family members and children aged 16 or older may work in Sweden if granted a permit.
Business Requirements: Applicants must show that they own at least 51 percent of the business and have decisive responsibility for its operations, and that the business is expected to generate sufficient income to support the applicant and family.
Permanent Residence Pathway: Applicants who have run their business and met the permit conditions for at least two years may apply for permanent residence if they can support themselves through income from the business.
